The Suermondt Ludwig Museum has set itself the goal of complementing its collection and its exhibitions with scientifically-founded catalogues. Over the years, this commitment has led to numerous publications which continue to have their place in the art-historical literature as reference works and which reflect the current state of research, whether it be with regard to painting, arts and crafts, prints and drawings, or sculpture. The sheer range of scientifically elaborated objects reflects the versatile inventory of the museum. And close cooperation with authors and academics on national and international levels testifies to the prestige of the museum far beyond the region.
